Amanda's Vision & Priorities

Together, we can build a District 2 that reflects our Pride, our Power, and our Potential

My name is Amanda Neatrour, and I am the Write-In Candidate for Pittsburgh’s

District 2 City Council seat. I am a neighbor, a mom, a homeowner, a wife, a business

owner, and a caregiver. I have launched this campaign because, quite simply, enough is

enough. For 15 years we have had the same leadership, and for 15 years our district

has been left behind.

I am running for City Council because I will fight for every single person in our district,

regardless of your neighborhood, regardless of how long you’ve lived here. Regardless

of what you look like, if you have a voucher, or if you have the means to buy a home. Every single person, no matter if you are progressive, moderate, conservative, or someone who has been so disaffected by the current leadership you’ve checked out and stopped participating in the process because you believed nothing will change. Today is a new day, and I am here to tell you, it is not about a single person, but about a community that is ready for better and ready for more.

I’m not just running to win a seat. I’m running to get things done. I’m running to build a district where:

  • Safer Streets – Supporting community safety through quality childcare, better centers for youth development, and adequate public safety resources.

  • Public Safety – Increasing the numbers of police officers and social workers and investing in youth and community resources for a holistic approach to public safety. Investing in meaningful resources for all public safety personnel to combat burnout and support the health of those who take care of us.

  • Cleaner Streets – Fighting against blight, trash, and contamination in our communities.

  • Senior Resources – Improving senior housing, access to services, and communication

  • Economic Development – We bring back the basics — banks, grocery stores, and small businesses that help our neighborhoods thrive.

  • Dignified Housing – Reducing homelessness, fighting predatory housing practices, and investing in affordable housing, making housing is safe, affordable, and dignified for everyone, not just the lucky few.

  • Public Transportation is reliable and accessible — not a daily struggle.

I offer you a proven track record of being solutions oriented and pro-active, rather than reactive. When I worked for the City’s Human Resources department, I fought for worker’s rights, ensuring everyone had the information and resources to be supported and affirmed to do their job. As the Chair of Pittsburgh’s Gender Equity Commission, I sought innovation outside the city, bringing Boston’s pay equity initiative to Pittsburgh. As a state commissioner, I advocate to ensure the needs of residents in Allegheny County, and in particular our seniors to have the resources they need to thrive, and that we all need to live long healthy lives. As a caregiver, I have turned my challenges and lived struggle with the health care systems and government systems into action as I volunteer with national organizations, and speak at international conferences, calling up on decision makers to center the needs of caregivers and human experience, rather than the dollars and cents and needs of shareholders. As a disability rights advocate and activist, I work hard in every space to educate people on the fact that I am and others are disabled not because of who we are, but because of how we are treated, disregarded, and not considered when leaders make legislative and budget decisions. I am clear on the fact that being disabled does not disqualify me, as some would have you believe, but in fact will bring the sorely needed representation and perspective that is long overdue in City Hall.

So let’s show them we will not settle for what we’ve been given and that we are ready to start fighting for what we deserve.

Let’s take our district back. Let’s choose action over excuses. Let’s build a Pittsburgh that doesn’t leave anyone behind — starting right here in District 2.

On your ballot, Write-In Amanda Neatrour — and let’s make history, together.

Thank you for your support!
